(Above) Badenoch/Lochaber boundary on the A86 this afternoon.
Made my way up Creag na Cailliche following the great Moy Wall - the traditional boundary between Badenoch and Lochaber. Built back in the day when clans settled boundary disputes with
heavy blunt implements and claymores diplomacy. The road sign in the photo pretty accurately placed at where the wall would have met the road years ago. Much better looking weather further west. Mainly cloudy, windy with occasional very bright sunshine in our neck of the woods.
(Above) The hills were milky white with drifting snow all day. 5cm of fresh snow at 250m this morning on the A86 which was quickly cleared by the snowplough.
(Above) A lot of loose snow avalanches today mainly on East and South East slopes below 800m. Some Class 2 events in a shallow SE facing corrie of Beinn a Chaorainn. Heavy drifting and deep dry windslab build up on all lee slopes above 850m today. Large weak cornice development, too.
(Above) Part of the Grey Corries looking very snowy and bright. Grim weather outlook for Wednesday with snow turning to rain at pretty much all levels later in the day.
